A woman found slain in her Capilano bungalow was a pipefitter who had lived in the southside neighbourhood for a couple of years, say neighbours.

4 y# C; a4 s0 R. d! T& e- U. KEdmonton police assured residents that they had no reason to be fearful, but officers did ask neighbours for their shoe sizes and vital stats during a canvass of the area.% _% b( p4 K8 c0 o

“They (police) asked us what size shoes we wore and how tall we were and our weight,” said a woman who lives across the street from the crime scene but didn’t want her name published.% Q, M' j. B; t$ _

“It’s upsetting. But we’re not too worried,” she added, noting police told them that there “wasn’t anything for us to be concerned about.”

The middle-aged victim lived alone, neighbours said.

The slain woman, whose name has not been released, is the city’s 24th homicide victim of 2010.
