He also proposed a law that would ban all sexual activity among persons

West was involved in a sex scandal in 2005. He was accused of sexually
abusing two young boys in the 1970s and 1980s when he was a sheriff's deputy
3 X" e4 x4 D0 }4 Land Boy Scout leader. He was also accused of misusing his office as mayor
to lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
  e# f& ~% X: R" \- v) Z0 fallegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
  _/ Q; V4 ?' h. C- P3 ~+ drelationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

  s" i/ G0 i1 x6 W& n/ Q. [the charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
BiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were
just graduating from high school - none of whom, however, under the age of
18.

preacher. Known as Pastor Ted to the congregations he served, he is the
founder and former pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs,

2 }3 w3 F! j* O5 Q. v9 yleader of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) from 2003[1] until
November 2006.

4 A& w: P: t* \& d5 G( DIn November 2006, he resigned or was removed from all of his leadership
positions after he admitted soliciting prostitute Mike Jones for homosexual
: v. s5 |8 E  @2 P1 Csex and methamphetamine. Initially Haggard denied even knowing Mike Jones,
: J! {! r. T+ C% t" ~+ n0 Obut as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
0 N! {8 k& u7 |" C6 q: C6 y9 j, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
) v2 Z( }8 v5 h% b3 D' D: zimmorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

' w2 F, v4 I+ m3 GAfter the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
9 X$ @1 v  t$ x! E4 r6 Fcounseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
ministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]
Ralph later said he meant that therapy "gave Ted the tools to help to
* i" ?1 d  ?3 r# }% b5 _embrace his heterosexual side."[4] As of early 2009, Haggard continues to

On January 23, 2009, officials from Haggard's former church announced that a
young male church member had come forward in 2006 and that there was an "

the time.[78] According to the man, he said the contact was "not consensual"
and this is not about "opening new wounds" it's about a much larger issue.[
