Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre


Key Responsibilities & Duties:

* z% C' s: y1 r4 T  q" x Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
& i% Z* |' v% u  F Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
: h$ u- [' c0 G, S( Q( m2 v Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
 Completing required paperwork.
" o. _$ l1 v6 s: W+ Y; x7 M Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
( B, `% @& V. j Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
 Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
9 X6 {  x- k9 ?6 U* M5 d Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
$ C8 `5 V5 H9 B5 ?- j Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

4 |. C+ N+ k1 c5 |3 r" J  O Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
0 Q4 v" f, c  U# f4 z3 E. C Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
. D; T/ y$ n8 }% ~( ]/ ? Knowledge of community resources.
' H  c1 W# E/ y! s- ? Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
 Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

# L4 l/ o$ j' qPosition:
( I$ a$ C" m9 jThis is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
$ t" q) }3 y* j  ]6 q$ }) Q& [( R9 Xstarting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
