You will be responsible for creating & developing an environment that meets the individual social, physical, intellectual and emotional needs of children aged infant to six years.! - h3 J) V+ Z7 n9 o% `6 O s* Z8 U6 hSome duties/responsibilities include: personal commitment to Bissell Centre Mission, Vision, Priorities & Values; ability to implement the “Learning Through Play” philosophy in day-to-day programming; ability to develop monthly program charts; daily & weekly activity charts; ability to take into consideration the children’s individual interests/developmental levels when developing program activities; ability to develop programs that enhance self-esteem & encourage children’s independence, social interaction & creativity; strong listening and verbal communication skills with the children, parents/caregivers and ECD staff.

PLUS: ability to establish rapport and trust with the children & parents/caregivers; ability to adapt or modify a program to allow children with special needs to participate; knowledge of behavioural & developmental disabilities (for example: ADD, ADHD, FASD); knowledge of possible signs of abuse/neglect; knowledge of community resources pertaining to children’s health & education needs; knowledge of Daycare Licensing Standards, ITERS/ECKERS; ability & desire to speak with caregivers about parenting issues and share information about child development; ability to work well within a team.

6 d" U1 D8 Q2 r+ G- Z YEducation/Experience: Level 3 Early Childhood Development Diploma from a CAFRA (Child and Family Resource Association) recognized College; familiarity working with children affected by behavioural and/or developmental delays; familiarity and experience with issues of poverty and the urban core.. ?% T2 z! @ R8 L9 c* { u
2 ?2 ]' o3 D7 Y; r& n4 D7 }Skills & Abilities: Behave ethically, build relationships, communicate effectively, focus on client needs, foster teamwork, make decisions, have organizational skills, be able to plan/solve problems. It’s physically demanding work. Must be able to lift and carry approximately 30 LBS.
