Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or
" ]/ v8 Z- ]/ ~5 `: qcommunity cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to 3 g5 ~$ E+ n" x& \# L
provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs. $ n: |* ~6 ?, s! F/ ^
, O5 V: d3 W+ @+ C' K Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
3 g- L; i) o IThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff,
- H3 R, C4 J) ^newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social % U) o) {( v' Q9 d" u
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
. a# J; X0 k7 R- G. @+ m @& l: i, ineeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
0 R, q( x! n# bnewcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial . |- ^ j/ H4 E$ R9 P
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-& H1 F' b) Y3 S9 C; J: m& l: i9 ^
centered delivery model.

newcomers in settling and fully participating in community.

Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
- s6 Y# i d4 p9 x' g0 q9 g$ Fexperience in Social Work or related human service fields.
0 h9 Q. @3 z0 B L Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
3 i8 ], j6 w/ l# \; ?7 @0 Ysupport needs 8 C0 L& w+ e6 K7 q/ }3 P0 ~3 B
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications 9 J( X8 |+ P: M+ e! I( Q
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages
% I; [$ l% j( y* r3 t Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate 9 E, v; g8 Y v2 `8 r
insurance coverage for work ( r- _8 d# l( [0 n. ^) U

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field
