Responsibilities

$ v2 W7 Q$ X- ^9 W! ?' aReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and $ ^. R: P# Z |6 Q' e
execution of the YWCA Strategy . F6 n* Q K- F; ^$ z

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of : Y7 i. \9 R t8 ]
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 2 z, Z- Q, R* X5 A$ A$ |9 d
the Board of Directors; 6 }) B* R& a* |# x6 ^5 q
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 2 s0 P/ [+ d% B2 j2 U, F2 i% u
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
. B( d4 q& s& B9 \5 ]# uenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
$ A2 _- y8 H% V" K J4 c• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ( N9 \$ C3 J; ~
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

/ a: R" F9 ^+ B* a• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
' A( y# W7 v A, x. T) E• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 3 b' w+ ^2 n1 x5 i! ~/ [; q6 H
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ' e: S; @# W8 z% s
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
* i( j* G; \: l" ^! }changing needs of the organization and community;
. d1 l1 x% Z6 n8 a( O6 `• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
) a3 Z. ^1 A4 D: E5 ~commitments; * c0 Z) \. a/ x% b3 M" [& e
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
- P) {9 O, Z6 j• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
, M9 e& _* u: L( q+ Xselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
6 P/ b; S3 b" e* y3 G• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 3 G, H& a& ?) I. E0 g, K) I# E" s
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to $ B# E ^# p, L$ P3 q0 u
effectively and positively represent the association; * P& P+ n {# G4 L5 v! Z
! K- a2 N9 e7 P, P$ J3 O• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
8 j4 O* V2 X' S L* Cthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; - W4 V- K+ M7 `# B
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 0 {9 h' Y. W1 b. ~
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ( j5 [0 Z3 F! T
the forthcoming year; # `. }& e# h4 P' r4 u! v
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
) P1 d8 K# @8 @, vpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of - k6 T* h0 t1 V q

• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;

Required Professional Designation / Certification
# I% n# d& D; S' _2 w" ~• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
# z* Z, s) c1 n3 T• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
* ?/ ~: T$ K3 A% ?6 _• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
" I a n9 v1 L z2 g8 M) Zabilities;
2 R, X2 B5 C4 g6 F" T9 Y& b: t• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
3 L W, t1 p( o. y& e5 c2 K8 M, @Networking and Fundraising; 1 W# [1 w9 X+ C7 _: G
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting

• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women $ P$ B ^+ E/ A' _
centered perspective.
