Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
7 V4 ? h" S) }6 n4 l; w# dthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
9 }3 @3 ]# h. [3 tthe Board of Directors;
, J F9 R; Q& _• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations $ M$ U$ H$ }5 }6 q: W9 h
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to - t, }$ s( f" Q$ M5 J1 h4 J5 Z
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; $ U/ x5 p7 Z. O D4 U% {( g
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and ! q% c% R. ] T9 S0 y
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 8 ~7 Z8 u$ g% Y4 O6 l9 I
the board;
0 S. I R# f( g) W• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
/ M3 f7 q" y7 q h" D6 U' I X• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
1 {' @9 G6 |' Gthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
4 t( v3 w" o( n) J7 ?- Y; P- t• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the & u/ D9 \: Y) @1 e7 v
changing needs of the organization and community; # U; q( E3 K; S: \4 u% b
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 2 M) H2 D8 |' L8 e
commitments;
z) b0 `0 Y$ G: |9 S) X• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 1 E3 S- W' d0 ?: P
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ) J) n; n L2 X
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; ; C3 C4 E( M1 ]/ \' a( N7 }2 }
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
3 D4 b$ L: G3 q• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to & i* E* h2 _8 C' g6 w: K
effectively and positively represent the association; ' V# t1 F3 ~! x( j6 _
. K' S- P, X8 O& x• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
- Q! N3 S: v [' }1 j+ C/ hthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; ! @! L; {& d1 d* y5 z: E# E, o
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal B: A! l2 X- y% x: C
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
) @. U( t. M( dthe forthcoming year; v8 v( `! U. n* W; n
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
% B; f7 ]9 H, T3 m( J7 m3 |. Ppractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
; K3 k* ^/ x' A# I% H% S+ v1 tYWCA Canada; and
5 ~' J( v; v& {' v3 s( s9 Y• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

9 _# Y4 }/ d6 X/ {& x" {• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
% Y' D# x3 d; o- W• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation & _# h, d7 Z) X6 z2 E& W+ X3 B, Z: V) V
abilities;

Networking and Fundraising;
