The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
' f: `0 u5 g/ H) s- VEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

execution of the YWCA Strategy 7 s5 j# A$ _! K; q5 X; L% H2 w

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
7 l, a+ C7 M, ]% S. R$ Z5 i# qthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
$ b( h- {+ l- I$ o/ l) j- ^the Board of Directors;
- f& y2 z0 A' o3 |6 \1 Z6 Z9 ]( @& ^• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
w& R( t+ A; c! w0 V, y+ C) M! w- @9 Vincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
1 S9 u* J6 K: M9 Q, C3 ienable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
) s3 g; h. z; S4 _• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
% |0 v* D5 Y8 {6 @2 q T% lobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 9 F7 m3 A7 u2 J- [
the board; ; ^$ w( F" y8 V$ v. n4 M
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; * f" e1 ]! G8 H1 X
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
: D1 C: T! {# ^7 ?( l# ? rthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
: G# T7 D. k/ k* A9 F5 e a6 Y& w: y• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the p+ e" H) s% O4 E/ V
changing needs of the organization and community;
4 A8 r( B+ }- `/ J$ l$ Q! I6 ]• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
; j$ w$ v% R: Z5 h• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
, W& w1 L6 D- w% Z* t" ^, W' Qselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; " z2 o/ O5 [, T" f
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ( m7 Y- ?$ P6 {. T/ H
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
. M$ ~0 T" s: ` C" x# peffectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring " w; @& u) Y6 S6 J* n
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
( d/ Y: w1 b" k+ k0 Y• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal " c& \. Y! S4 m2 |: u% B
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
+ t4 E Y+ N9 p: rthe forthcoming year;
5 F+ y* H1 M6 v% L9 s/ I/ x• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
- w" C. z+ O2 I! q0 ypractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
+ W' U: ]( o8 u! M: p( @& B/ AYWCA Canada; and
( O# l/ w. Q6 H: N4 @& w& V* l! d• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task " F: U9 I) v' ]! ^# {& j* y

+ k" G3 p& D+ N% D• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
( L% K& b* m) v# h: G( F• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
3 R. k: `; I8 P) M) [: D: x• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation ! Y3 F4 V5 b: N I U
abilities;
" @& s+ l' w3 D. V* K• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
. H% Q9 {7 P9 V. n" q: fNetworking and Fundraising; 4 J4 l0 R7 ]! \6 T P
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
: z: M( R# r; I0 @and financial statements; and
0 F! X- ?/ h1 c• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 2 @- T: H* m' `4 E
centered perspective.
