The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

this multi-service agency. With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 2 i1 q6 Y& q) M5 U; }
execution of the YWCA Strategy

Specific responsibilities include: ( C5 ~; J' V, ?2 V; e
f- H* u0 C4 {; n j# m$ C; a• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of * ]7 z( @9 Q2 w7 i1 t! s
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 0 g2 {5 t0 p7 _
the Board of Directors;

! l. B( y3 G ]5 L& K& ^including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 2 v7 W) w, A" C
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ' o) ^0 j. _' \
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 3 W% ^0 E, q M& x3 `$ c) X
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by 2 }) ^' P6 Q; V2 V, Y; P: V9 S
the board; : z- g; U/ _$ M& H/ E/ c5 e5 G; q
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ( S) l3 q2 ~0 X* r
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ?8 a: y3 W# ~& E1 r; T' K
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
( c3 r' s6 V& l• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
5 j: q: X2 c% U$ I, M2 Fchanging needs of the organization and community; ' x- _3 n+ u, N( W' f0 K1 e
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 1 n9 q" J2 r3 f9 c3 q9 ]- [' f+ H) C
commitments; 3 e) w8 J+ `8 e" ?. W* K0 N
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
' h+ v) _" |" {• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective , g9 p8 R4 n% W
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;

• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 5 ?7 [. b- }. Z0 e
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
: J6 i& a. r5 c% rthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;
/ e! h' ~9 Y9 `• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
0 d" H! x3 M" p" _7 i) b, a: @performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 8 ?- S B& n3 e0 f( ^
the forthcoming year; 6 c1 Q* P/ G6 v$ @
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
( B3 a! x% j+ _: `5 Opractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of V9 F: o( }& X4 T
YWCA Canada; and 3 d* d3 B3 V$ ?* F# U* M. L
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Experience
1 F. a1 {8 a% r/ o• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; " c0 I: r6 l: S5 C
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation $ P7 [) z2 B: s: `3 i W4 |9 B
abilities; % ~6 A/ w6 m, w$ O `0 U* u& b
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, , c- v7 U* C$ ^
Networking and Fundraising;
6 V2 o& h$ I, Y7 ?, G3 n• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting

• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women ( z/ n& ]1 c" b/ v
centered perspective.
