Two cutler –hammer advantage starters are doing the same thing:
- E$ L; j0 K! F; c! P/ B After start 2-3 times, they will quit working, if you toggle the start and stop buttons on DCS screen , you will get another 2-3 running before they quit working again. 3 Q8 x% L# A; H% t; A; x
It is a cycle.

We isolate the network control and use the local start and stop only, the problem remains.% ~( F. w" O& Y) }& R: r- E
Swap one of the defective buckets with a good one, the new bucket works fine.; h- E3 S' D7 N) n$ P: p' T( z
The problem should be inside the bucket.

When the problem happened, we observed that the contactor has a pulling action but will not seal.
/ h: S$ b; Q: u ^7 vUse a terminating screw divers to push in the contactor, it will not seal either.: \( Y% Y6 q! s, V9 T/ {, b) }, l
Confirm with TECH support this should be a problem with the control circuit board inside the advantage starter, we bought two new control circuit boards and replaced the old ones, the problem is still the same.: Z1 L- m0 e5 u1 |) n; S* Z
* N/ Z6 g9 U0 @" K3 vThe next thing we can think of is the coil, we took the coil out to have a close look.
1 S9 z: L0 v9 TThey have a fork to pinch inside the two leads to make connection, it is not a good design at all. We soldered the connection and tried again.
, k/ O! E7 S/ V# } It is getting better this time, we have 7-8 times of running before it quit working. ; O, E! _ B( V6 z K& p. J" A
5 X1 T. w- P; C5 a9 a* e. mThe coil should be the problem, we ordered two of them. But it will take 5-6 weeks for us to get them. : `% ^, ^8 e9 Y' g9 l
