Responsibilities / A( Q4 J+ x. f
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. & N7 e& R* |* F
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. 9 ]& L3 E6 x2 K/ H H, r
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. 0 c5 E+ f" N! E3 g: e+ |
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
) T( t# c* j& V1 c: ]. I5 wMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. % u3 m/ ]4 C, [, \2 v! d/ b
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. 4 R! }" [3 ~- y/ X- A
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
( T/ W8 x& J) f5 H( E# v/ J- L" o: zEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
t4 r+ |" f# l- r9 RDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. 1 v! N' w. C- b$ {/ h
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. T1 L" v. a, \. [
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. ' [- I* r8 b" ~
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
$ k6 \! z) m" WQualifications % t) y; D! C4 l) M( P& g
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. / I0 P" p* i+ j! R+ _5 U. a- M
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
! }5 _& d; F- c( J$ u8 e* ~# h: c4 V1 `Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. O/ y0 Z5 Y$ q1 z5 v9 d
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. % T. d3 p; u( d$ x# d2 t/ [
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
