In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
2 m7 x( P$ Y: FPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. " f: B; N# e$ a
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. 1 H2 e* S5 Y8 M9 r) o0 o) x3 }
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 3 x5 M9 I& G' c/ G7 P/ R$ s
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. ( r& ~( Y4 Q" S7 t, |
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
$ f) a# T: |& \# ]3 X% ~* t6 iExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
! I3 B$ I2 F; X! \% W+ bEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. & d9 w- |1 C5 d0 f# W7 S
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. ! U+ \0 z/ a: ]6 @
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. " A" N8 [1 p3 r
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.

Qualifications 8 T& d, e6 B/ d- h& _, ~+ J/ b% a
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. / R% P3 p2 N* J8 O! @
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
' x) `$ P9 H- Z9 {& r. R) A8 B, xPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
% a8 p: h8 }: Z. x% t% XPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. ' E9 D8 G6 m& H6 I6 c2 e0 [% T
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
