A baby food recall is underway as a popular Heinz baby cereal may contain elevated levels of a mycotoxin.6 e% O& [6 }. t, N
: J6 t9 J# i j6 TThe Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Heinz Canada are warning parents about ‘Heinz Mixed Cereal, Stage 2, From 6 Months’. The best before date codes located on the top left hand corner of the package are ‘BB/MA 10 DE 26’ and ‘BB/MA 10 DE 29’.# P* w* H- D) e# Y# N
No illnesses have been reported from consuming the cereal. Heinz Canada says that the cereal may contain elevated levels of Ochratoxin A (OTA). 6 E7 E2 ?9 s( V, `+ |
+ r6 w# u( S" O+ @7 ^- ?- A# aIn a news release, CFIA says Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin produced by fungi that can grow in food such as grains, grapes and coffee beans and has been classified by as a possible human carcinogen.
