% Y% q" G- Z/ T7 [; kThis fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
g$ W7 ]9 T( x, E. v" bEligibility Criteria2 F4 J7 {& J3 s/ {7 k
All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:# L7 t2 c8 I9 o. o% U" Z
•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less
7 l; F. q3 p j$ v2 U" n0 s, y•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education
" n" ]! v$ I `. X•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English/ y4 L4 m! |; a9 V
•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada 8 F. y. ^. U- G3 w
•No prior Canadian work experience in their field
. C/ ~6 d- l/ E+ K# a: R# p•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less8 _& R2 E/ P. @# B6 ?: Y/ f. W9 y
•Be eligible to work in Canada2 \# a" Y- K( \4 u$ { S
•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop t" { p$ i3 H! z7 ]3 S* x s" E
•Lack access to professional networks# \ i4 d6 g3 L" {
•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning7 m* ]! M( ]4 j
Time Commitment5 `8 V! |) t# d9 T# D6 k
The maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.
