/ H* _: Y1 V! fUnder the direction of the Program Coordinator and in collaboration with CLSA Special
3 B; A! w: Z' D" @- s7 I- y: fEvents and Volunteer Committees, this position will be responsible to: ( y5 d, P4 p$ \' P& y

7 G- p- C" R$ }4 u/ DDuties:  Special Events  " B. _1 o1 L. Z$ H& D& a
Plan, implement and evaluate Special Events: 3 O# X2 R4 j% f- q. U3 Z+ W- ]( i
·  Select and develop themes in collaboration with the Committee ; i; c7 Z/ t- `7 O5 n% c% Y9 }0 d/ O
·  Oversee event logistics: book entertainment, catering services and venue; assist 7 ^' p( ~8 i3 t+ y
with decorating; ensure tickets and invitations are available; assist with the
. Q- a9 X$ x* I4 a  B6 h+ P0 S9 kadvertising of events; recruit, place and supervise volunteers for events; ensure 4 Z! E0 X0 e$ v
set-up and clean-up; monitor event budget and complete evaluation of events.   " T) ]' `# |! r
·  Attend and manage Special Events  
! u7 [+ m1 ~) X) H, R# |·  Attend and take minutes for Special Events Committee " [6 i* O/ z8 R# j0 h9 ]  t

& ~. G  V, J9 m+ e' ]/ eDuties: Volunteer Coordination
  G2 P5 }# f. z3 n' F! AAssist in developing and implementing a volunteer program: 3 b. b3 U7 l# i" s4 E7 @( H
·  Develop job descriptions for volunteer positions
( G( }5 Z  |6 i, Y7 |6 w·  Recruit, interview, screen and place prospective volunteers + l% }; ^" E0 R7 |- n' p
·  Provide initial orientation and training for new volunteers
4 R$ F- [# G" U- m! g1 q·  Ensure provision of recognition and evaluation of volunteers  
! F" A/ r! W  D$ }·  Complete program administration, statistics and records
! c; N5 q! Q9 l  V 4 y7 K) e0 I) r4 R! ]  Z
Qualifications: . S. e" s+ I! i! \
·  Completion of 12th
  K; ?: u  Y4 a* t2 R3 T Grade and a minimum of a Diploma in Recreation
! b- u2 m& [. `Administration, Volunteer Management or Special Event Planning or equivalent. ! E. w: n; {/ M, N2 w# q
·  At least one year of experience in Recreation Administration and some direct ) }; F  H. W" @' W8 n4 i3 q9 c
experience in conducting recreational, cultural or other related events ! C+ F; ?/ V1 o
·  Experience working with and managing volunteers
. o( W; z5 J) L0 u% A2 J·  Specialized skills and training in working with seniors  & ]* w: J. C3 V( X+ E) O/ m  J: p
·  Ability to instruct, organize and supervise group activities and special events ! K) k6 o( \8 S
·  Current Standard First Aid, CPR & AED training
) l* m, B: ]+ e$ ?% Y# }) O  Y  m·  Security Clearance & p3 E. p7 l. T) j# y

Hours:   Flexible – some evening and weekend work " q4 G, L+ f4 n6 v
