Duties- @8 F1 F: ~) U! K1 o) A1 K1 j
5 M8 x$ m9 B$ }# Z5 t * Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory
7 @! E9 r# Q8 C3 o1 N6 _7 m! G. d * Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr2 e+ @8 ^# I( [. J' A% S8 f5 C
* Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps( V2 l2 I3 t& J. c/ T2 c! `
* Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations% k7 m4 A8 ?+ l4 ^
* Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations* w# f- W W: U
' ]# q5 y" V2 b+ _7 {1 {Qualifications, W, F7 q6 m1 Z- n, {
) U" G$ X9 E; t* ^5 n3 U * Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred
4 l6 Q6 l- k6 x * Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation* Z. {6 h+ _4 r2 @% A7 d) D% u
* Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers
* s0 |8 Y6 H s! d5 l5 W/ `3 w8 W * WHMIS training
% A& W: c$ ?5 o* F/ b9 ?" ~ * Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset
