Program Overview:
: U& z* v9 d! ]+ L! W
! A) x5 g& p8 n- b4 ~4 pIntegrated Employability Skills Training gives immigrants the essential
skills needed for success in the Alberta workplace. This 5-month funded
$ ?  M/ e: b. w8 ]* f7 tprogram combines classroom-based training with work site visits and work
  S2 t) }( ?4 G7 gexperience placements in high-demand semi-skilled occupations, such as
$ a9 E0 n& K* z5 K0 ywarehousing, customer service, hospitality, healthcare support, food
services and others.

Candidate Profile:
% z1 J2 h+ T- t; C
8 h" O: e+ [2 g0 m8 eCandidates for this funded program must be landed immigrants, Canadian
citizens or refugees who are eligible to work in Canada and who have:
$ w. }! Z$ P  S4 V( d0 k! P*        English communication skills in the 4 - 6 range on CLB
*        Basic literacy and numeracy skills and some secondary or post-
secondary education
/ j9 R" S6 `' ]: U*        A genuine interest in finding permanent employment in a high-demand
7 i3 h8 z; @% y6 |occupation
*        Availability to study fulltime for 5 months and then be employed
*        Willingness to commit to a program and future job
! t  i: u. ]$ l1 \  X* T*        Resided in Alberta for the past 3 months

Program Description:

/ |1 ^6 d) q) v5 i                        *        4 months classroom-based instruction and
field trips
        *        Improve your English while learning about a variety of
high-demand occupations
4 x, e( z5 D( {7 f        *        Increase computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
4 W  q, j/ z" b' @- B  pInternet, etc.)
        *        Write a winning resume and improve interview skills
+ U% `' E% r' B9 F        *        Get First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certificates
, w5 e+ a! n$ T& G- Q; w; W! d        *        Take advantage of one-on-one employment counseling
% Y! q& C1 f0 P0 A1 ]                        *        1 month work-experience placement

Class Schedule and Location:

        *        September 12, 2005 to January 31, 2006
        *        Monday to Friday

        *        All classes are held at The Path to Employment, 10211 - 97

Funding:

Students may be eligible for tuition and living expenses from Student
