Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. We are looking for 4 temporary full time summer staff. 2 U" s3 o2 E; F

(8 week contract @ 35 hours a week)0 o3 H( H) p; k; j) [0 R

Key Responsibilities Include:3 o# M x C1 h. x$ j7 S. V4 i
Activity Planning and Daily Activity% z4 q M* D0 b7 B
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
3 f* R. J0 [6 g# u1 C• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. 1 g) O6 B" ]% b. o4 y2 x5 C3 J: E
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, ( ^+ }% S/ i- k `# C2 ^9 J4 m3 m
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
% y& ?% ~' t+ i) ?5 C5 K• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.. K" N! v1 M0 H
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:
( U2 z# n: L8 M• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
4 e; @' r! n ~. p• Experience with children
! u' y/ M1 w# o& p: m7 Q% W0 C• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
1 c6 \1 E5 W3 Z( e• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
4 U J/ Y6 o( ]• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.6 z5 `0 o3 J2 v" ]/ [) V: K* _ d
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
5 W3 R. z* [( C# o7 j• Documentation of a clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
