Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

3 ?) y- y9 E P; O9 [ WActivity Planning and Daily Activity/ H P0 q) D/ K, w6 I" m7 W
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.6 Y2 n- i) a$ }, O# B8 x
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
. f2 @$ c; o5 Q9 q2 ~- Y$ e• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 2 i* f; Q- f6 U4 @3 \5 y
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.# ? [8 m% x' N! q
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
. ?, U1 d7 p; D2 `6 k• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal./ x( _8 V: @2 s. y: m

The successful candidate will have:
( }1 X- `" F* [3 `1 q7 E) k• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
& |, R" B0 L/ A- Q8 i7 }• Experience with children7 _4 J: f# ^5 W9 U4 m
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
7 G( l. ~! v3 b) F" \• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
2 ^( a M9 m, f• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
