FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 8 `8 i( E& M) \ R% P& g0 g7 U9 G' x
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
( T7 f U1 t" i/ o# I$ ~artists from Northern Alberta. ; t, A5 }9 w* d4 l; p7 v: R9 }

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from / Y8 a; w8 ] Q7 T# Q& @
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
, B1 m& K9 Q7 J( g+ V$ p" uand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a q& @& G$ R/ d
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and - ^2 v& A) L' q9 E$ e
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 4 o( Q/ @7 l X/ a6 }4 W
Alberta.

' d# V# i7 K' S" {5 {* VJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive # ^2 h, T2 O1 [1 u
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 6 g4 U3 M5 F, o7 _8 F. k; Y4 L
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
5 H% c" Q: ], U1 S- Assist with research on acquisition grants
( `: J" X9 _: t& G/ F8 b- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
h( X+ n1 h) a- Assist with equipment maintenance % V0 o9 c6 |3 P$ a# N
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
( o* v% G4 V" u# u- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
( U) E3 I0 b# i/ q1 v- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ; p* z1 X/ m3 Q4 c/ B/ q& X4 k
- Provide vacation relief ! }$ i5 E- A$ u e! O

secondary training

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: 6 ]" S! R1 M$ l8 z2 Q& c8 T' d
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts 4 C4 Z9 i \' i5 d0 n) H6 A/ B
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
$ T- w( I. F' a! c- Advance organizational and research skills
. I! e+ y7 m: B5 ~" Q; d7 r w4 Q- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD & t% Z8 b, I9 L- U
- Strong team player abilities
