FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
9 `8 C$ Y/ d* O, i  Vwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
& O- |9 |" h) F3 z! B$ a3 }, semerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
8 C% |# Z3 C0 t6 |. w; Gresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
. G. C  J" A  s: z- |  lscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

/ ~  _! M: c+ C& P9 W2 bJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
. ]2 X* Q9 Q8 E3 qDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
$ p; n0 y1 d! ]/ `' j6 t3 z# r( Dassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

# r7 C; c: i3 f# aDuties:
& x% p( V5 C2 Y  X$ D9 ^* a- Assist with research on acquisition grants
: V1 w+ k% ^- P  b/ V  @- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
& T6 n  s; @! m! ?- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
4 [1 R$ S3 P0 G& S* h- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
6 R7 `$ {- ]  I1 W# {6 msecondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

# @% Y* P1 P" d! ]7 M3 a- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
8 j9 q; J& Q. J% w- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
7 l+ [" Q, E) S* g* \- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
