A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.+ |/ c, u) B2 c0 J/ |6 C
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and$ A' m7 G! ]$ W' h0 S
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.
# t1 e. V4 Z7 U( I5 bThe program includes the following elements:
0 W3 {2 [ n& R& Y• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
* B4 S; E8 o) e# s3 S! C• Standard Child Care First Aid
! n5 W5 f+ E3 C$ v- M$ X• WHMIS
& }$ F5 m) \+ F4 f1 [• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
. _1 X0 i7 k% l' j• Components to improve communication skills
& H( I, `4 a/ V' u5 o( `6 ~• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search5 T- o, d8 v. e' z# G9 p9 s
• Practicum Placements0 w0 K7 u- K# j7 U2 G& }& v: g
Eligibility Criteria3 a" @% p: ]* k8 P
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
9 j- ?1 s: j# ~/ W$ F# M. O; rof Canada
5 V4 l' P6 c4 ~9 ]" i0 r• have a Social Insurance Number
; V( V8 T; ?& T2 k7 W• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
) A L! x2 J4 @ L• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent2 ?& ^ m0 K& G
• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time/ D0 z, E W1 ^& R" @% U. k

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet8 t: ?$ e6 u9 q; y
the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:

8 X5 n* x) s Y: L) IThey CANNOT quit their job to take the course
