A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care." q* p5 ~! k# M% }
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and" W: N9 T; f' n. U/ B0 |/ f
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.2 q& P/ V$ G; G, G( A
The program includes the following elements:
4 N# R( o% p) V( [& e3 \• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
$ D6 d) Q, g9 n# L) B• Standard Child Care First Aid
" g4 f* h9 L/ b; t; @7 j• WHMIS
9 }1 z8 S) B) l2 _• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
. W0 k# U. c- P• Components to improve communication skills; e, m6 J" I, }4 P( w( W
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search
# r C( J$ |/ R) c3 ]• Practicum Placements
9 l4 `" Y3 J; `5 rEligibility Criteria
$ F [' F( H y• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
3 [5 G6 C0 w: g! Vof Canada
+ s3 ] g r( L; s" o4 F! H' q• have a Social Insurance Number
3 h) @7 d# o2 U; e1 A# T k• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
; M" n$ w- v8 H. \• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
& a) \! `! o& e5 e9 k. |, H& S• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet D8 u# _# J2 ^- N D
the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:% K( n# j5 C4 s( n6 j( D
• be unemployed or underemployed.
9 j% J7 Q- D0 o& j3 xThey CANNOT quit their job to take the course( Y, p' t5 T u' R* b5 o" f
• meet the financial eligibility criteria6 o& w4 u& K1 V% y
