A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.3 T! s% u! [$ k. d: b* j/ ^: Z
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
4 J% W% S U! Y, ^8 B) Z9 B8 wknowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.. {$ r/ T! O8 Q+ _* M
The program includes the following elements:
7 B& i" T' m* f) `: u* P1 K- H5 N• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
. i) _# O' A, _0 s• Standard Child Care First Aid7 y5 b2 q5 M& H
• WHMIS5 o1 ] J; O/ V
• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
( k9 j! }2 S6 `: J _6 U• Components to improve communication skills
; Y* Y: K* [ I* a( ~• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search h! Y. @5 D: d h6 \+ i4 P+ x
• Practicum Placements$ O- t. c& m1 X" f: n
Eligibility Criteria
& [7 N! W% W% G( [9 j V9 f• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen: K# W6 C% f9 c+ b- k/ u% C# d
of Canada- W; n/ Z- R: ^5 Q7 v
• have a Social Insurance Number2 ~. S9 j. a; Y$ a6 @4 S
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check, Z1 Z# ?, t! w+ e- ?
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
4 ]; B: U9 ~1 C1 I( r P3 \, m( r- l# o• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time
- I' F# a+ j5 d8 L, Lprogram; I6 x9 h( W+ m) A6 y
Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
4 r+ R5 t2 |' N" pthe following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:3 A% `5 ], p$ W8 ^2 i
• be unemployed or underemployed.
% H' l) j6 l0 ?. P: P8 Q2 BThey CANNOT quit their job to take the course
