The pain of our loss is beyond anything we could
* y& P3 z' ^  q+ P5 M9 H> have ever imagined. Over
> and over again people tell us that they could never
) i2 u8 Q7 B* F5 n. ~9 u& W> begin to understand the
- z+ y/ t0 V8 q( }( o> depth of our loss. That is true. But we know of One
> who does understand and
9 V2 ^, P  d& a* Q> feel our pain because He lost His son, too. It
9 |( M9 w" o; T1 y4 c> happened when God gave the
' X) D1 n  W& O. J/ G; x> sinless life of His son ant the cross to redeem
> sinful lives and to purchase
0 A; X$ m: c9 Z8 k1 ?! p> forgiveness for us all. There days later, He raised
+ m# T6 R$ N& v* @# o> His son from the dead
( J' @  V$ `% y1 h% u0 m> and conquered death. It is though this event where
> human history was
> intersected by divine grace and mercy that we have
& F6 U  h0 x3 u> hope. This hope, that's
$ Y- I$ R6 f$ s! @% G> what's sustaining us. It's not an idle wish, but a
> certainty based on the
> promise of God. And this hope fills us with eager
> anticipation and a longing
> for the time when we shall be forever with the Lord.
> It is this hope that
8 [" a! Q" c4 q5 a! C2 J, X> will ease the pain of our loss, as the Prince of
' o: {. q1 b3 O  U# n- e- H4 u* m! H> Peace comes to our hearts
> and says to be still and know that I am God.

> Peter told me a year ago, "Dad, if something ever
> happens to me, I want
> people to hear about Jesus and to hear about hope."
