" l  V4 P: m+ m* s) x0 f+ A    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
2 c! e% a7 N' f# a7 P    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
2 D6 n, l' J# J8 u5 {* u* S9 F, }8 {    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
% Q4 ], X; t- c( C7 x    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
4 b& q/ e+ u% B# A    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
/ U  N; z9 X$ F" k$ u* R  N    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
8 `+ v7 b/ G! e4 y0 l    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
, [3 @+ e% i: `9 v7 M' D    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications

# ~; P1 b1 ?0 Q: J# J/ w" O    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
7 I9 S3 K& x& X    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community

) P5 Y4 x- z+ b- }3 q* p    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
! S5 X5 h  U$ R4 w0 C    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
2 J' o1 s9 a6 J1 B    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
