Duties/ ?+ P. I1 N( W6 u4 q
/ M$ Y; W/ _0 E6 m) z * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis/ y& a% R7 Z6 K- R
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
8 @ H% m! k+ G * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques2 [& e; {* j* q5 o) O' z
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
7 T* B$ T) @+ g * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry: ]- J" f% h7 O. s' E3 O
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals) e! B$ c) O" u5 K9 K0 `
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
/ B7 N R# Y" Q' L+ ~# x# V * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices% f& {. n# X( e2 `$ v0 P4 F
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
$ P8 I, z$ T% @* E( K * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
% Y2 \( Y6 O3 V5 m+ U * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
. ]; x* m: |8 d ?. v% B+ {. s- Q1 z * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
