* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
' u0 _' R2 y, O, f * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography+ H% Z' j, C+ F) O) i
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
$ s" l: C; q# u! E3 Y * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
( l$ u7 _8 L9 b/ c9 w% ^( h F * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry3 T) | E6 \1 o
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
( |, G+ v+ m' Y# u, _* t * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab, f, {/ u% X) { W6 }" w
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices" H/ g! l1 ]) q+ _
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS) i; p- ]& n- D+ x4 T

+ ~5 S" {* N% n$ I * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred3 W0 x! F5 o" S g& J$ i! L- K
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
7 K! B8 R" q, x) Y* S5 a * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
% t6 i3 e! c! V; R) Z- T * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures) V% S2 t5 n: b
