* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis7 L) G" ?+ O; g9 L) E7 y2 S
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
; R8 \1 m u3 w1 X0 Z; S * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
) ~+ h- f6 L! `) g8 v/ e * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client! m! d) f# w9 g2 \0 G5 I
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
. Y8 Y' a9 _7 A4 U6 h x8 V * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals. j( b& e1 ]2 v, G
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab' R; M8 ~- p# Y% K2 Z9 N
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
2 S# }9 S. E. r * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

% P# f' z4 u& P: p! w$ W * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred+ q! H$ m# \& Z! ?
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
. [1 Y* |8 w5 v * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel1 {6 k- S2 z3 n, h+ Q
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
, i. F/ V: L6 Y8 Z6 S * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
