5 X3 ^# C4 f- _. ~ * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis# C3 M7 `3 X7 k( h7 j) o& ]
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
/ O* Z; M9 Q) F! T% d8 c2 O * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques3 K; N, X6 c5 L6 Z
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
2 D1 d" q- M* o * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
9 F) i' l' z6 Y * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
! d5 S A4 J) r; P# V * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
9 p) \! `9 x5 s" m8 s * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
8 @% V; b3 r3 }" G; l, r * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)2 A( [* Z& V$ [4 S7 [

Qualifications4 o1 m3 d& `/ J* H: _
0 d) P$ t) G3 J9 k7 O- [% d) V6 | * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred, k$ u: o0 J9 @, y9 c v
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab) J; k! V2 l+ t( J$ V+ |4 o
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
* c9 j7 M. K% U9 y * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures1 u; H$ h5 P1 s/ s
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
