1 v4 ?& ^6 G2 Q- A7 o# M1 ZThe Student Support Specialist is primarily responsible to monitor and maintain the daytime LINC classes and to assist with inquiries, student placement and needs in the LINC Morning and Afternoon programs. The Student Support Spcialist works closely with and is accountable to the ESL Manager.( q" q0 E% e4 C5 f+ E9 x8 T

8 ~% l9 e5 T3 F: }& E9 zAnswer Daytime inquiries from current and prospective students and make decisions as required;6 W; J6 ~- u$ z7 S. L( ~

& C6 H' `% L7 p7 ^8 P% H s2 CMonitor Daytime student attendance and address attendance issues as they arise;% G; R' ^! o. A

2 c- K" ]" ~8 s- D% e, OProvide orientation to new students arriving throughout the session;

* u& d9 \$ y0 l* R, m/ B5 Y0 k/ m/ rPerform Daytime student intake/exit procedures and maintain student records (with the assistance of the LINC Program Assistant);

7 r# F {7 G3 DRespond to ILVARC inquiries about Daytime program details and students’ training histories;" n* x2 F' K' j, q/ }

' U6 [9 O0 P' G4 J# B' vProvide updates to the ESL Manager about the changes in LINC classes on a regular basis;

! H' A7 _; h* Z |2 OMaintain students’ database on a daily basis, entering any necessary changes in their hours & benchmarks;( D `6 y, o9 z. q" N

Provide weekly reports on Daytime class registration, “seats available” to ILVARC; monthly reports (numerical and narrative) to the ESL Manager for CIC;8 ]/ }/ E. h6 r R" h( Q

( t" z9 u! J1 c" wCommunicate with teachers any changes in students’ status;5 r3 \/ @# f |! W' o+ P7 r

+ R4 H3 l0 P( R! M2 ~. E5 sCollaborate with the Evening LINC Program Coordinator in transfering students to different classes and maintaining their files;* p& D0 x& H, Z- R2 g

Attend meetings as requested.
+ g; [% ^% q, _8 e3 Z# kQualifications( p: e5 H" c# o' P/ A

/ n3 `: d9 d! J" Y1 fUniversity degree, preferably in TESL or Education;
4 \8 q9 j* U# K, S# t6 M$ n•
7 }$ l: |" ]5 N! [0 z% z+ R5 u; f: wFamiliarity with CLBs/ at least one year experience teaching in an ESL classroom, preferably in a LINC program;

2 X* C) {0 C& W% A4 cCertification in TESL is an asset;- c; n3 ]( R( W$ P8 k2 l0 n
