Responsibilities include:

1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)
# S" D3 n; ^2 O# l0 J, M• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department1 w1 k3 L. g' p2 z4 _6 y5 u
• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals$ w, \1 Z i4 e" ?
• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored4 O- M( y' f1 Y" r3 Q
• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals
9 C! U2 t8 n* V; J• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.

" Z' |& N: w5 d. _2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)
- M/ ~! `9 V0 f• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.

: }2 q5 A1 X. A& i' A% k, ]' H5 ^# i3. Tracking System
) s E, L6 T" z7 U% z• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s + \4 L) m" r* v" h+ P7 ^8 G M

Candidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required. # f" L- h1 B5 L2 X" H
6 i g E6 z* U3 _! nThis is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening.
