Hours of work: 35 hours per week

) L" u+ P2 y* z, x) yPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

3 E! X' x* j/ c! t& R- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community# X# [) q7 \/ o$ F0 T
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
( i) h0 p6 D6 [' q! m- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services) |% O/ L/ o5 Q! R+ r! R
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies7 y4 Y4 q6 ^! Z/ ~2 O% I
- coordinate good will activities+ r) h: I! r$ c9 n' m5 U) H
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members
/ F$ K5 h; \8 r- M- submit information for community news $ d5 Z7 Q6 W* {6 o) x
- prepare and send AGM information to members
4 h1 K! D$ u' I- }/ F' k- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
! z f" D+ d# G/ ~- assist in writing proposal for ISP

- explore new ideas for ISP / ?1 ~$ Q) X( a6 V
- hold regular meetings with ISP team$ ?% |# K. ]* @
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time. m/ ]9 L" Q$ ?5 r7 x
- update membership database' ]5 u6 o4 u; N
- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

Qualifications( y! ~- z( d$ |2 H
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
3 V# B0 g. d% W! `+ f- good oral and written Chinese and English skills

+ |+ Y. J2 ]3 N. D( x) h$ j- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
