Position title: Community Development Worker

& }$ H4 ?1 W$ A; N8 r! z5 IPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. $ P: L6 F" k$ f8 b/ s( I6 U

- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
. J$ k) f+ z1 l/ {( \4 W% f- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies1 Y& o: B) J* O8 e" D, z
- coordinate good will activities8 `, c0 ~: N/ g( z. M7 c( }
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members
* x) S" | G- J; z/ ~- submit information for community news . T$ Z; x f" A+ @ `6 ^+ U% B
- prepare and send AGM information to members; I8 ^8 [8 ], g6 e
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

P0 z% T9 O* @- update ASSIST website
8 ]0 z# {! Q- h$ z* G& d6 K& J$ B- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre( w4 j! w6 w$ p' H. ]
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services7 R9 E! V; v# H: c3 j! Q
- assist in writing proposal for ISP
5 {6 }5 q( d' g' L+ f8 B- write quarterly and final reports for ISP- V! A4 V1 f2 S L. C4 J; E
- explore new ideas for ISP

- update membership database

% ]8 l8 _: v* z& W& y- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education & x1 s5 Z& b& T. H
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills5 t3 D% c M, Y, T
- experience in community work and immigrant services( e. [/ N' m$ X$ ^$ j! X. \
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars. ~, c5 Z" @/ T" a: k. N
- leadership skills
