Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

?' o v: p9 Y0 K- s- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services

) r5 h9 w* _7 ?: u- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies: }1 x G) ~5 H& X1 u; T
- coordinate good will activities5 c5 m$ p m. K$ {
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members! I9 R$ I) n }# S% `2 r
- submit information for community news

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre& y4 j& P3 ~" L- R }5 J- A& ?7 ~2 g# _
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services4 E+ f+ C$ U0 P9 ^/ X2 ~# h3 u
- assist in writing proposal for ISP

- explore new ideas for ISP , l% i2 v( G1 y# O, c2 x
- hold regular meetings with ISP team

7 u$ s" y, o3 W _( E* [* _6 m7 M, C& _- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
/ V8 ?, o* M) U7 L4 _; T- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
$ \6 w, _, s( n+ Q$ D% X- experience in community work and immigrant services
- e+ n+ X, k1 y& f+ V- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
