Housing starts are on the way down in Calgary.

! c% d  J3 Z% M% g7 @) XThe Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says there will be just over 14 thousand units built in the city this year.

That includes both single and multifamily homes but that’s down 16 per cent from last year.

Hardest hit is the single-family home market, which is down 27 per cent from 2006.

+ a4 _( R9 z8 a1 X/ b; RIn 2006 over 10 thousand 5 hundred detached homes were built.

That was a record year for the city.
