increases the tuition fee by few percent every year and international

the fact that the university housing has no more space for newcomers 1 ]6 y1 r3 ]; _3 T W1 l
and most of the newly admitted students who applied for housing were 7 \7 C, K, u( R* {% G
asked to look for a residence on open market.! a( |* ~ _+ _! r- T
# D/ c- Z! U8 ]4 xWhile the average cost of living for a typical graduate student has
( o4 Y, A& h; D9 _7 \increased by something more than 70% percent we are getting paid % B" U5 s. O, j2 h; h
exactly for the same amount of money that we were offered in our
# E7 H8 `7 b5 w% {8 S* Y& Hadmission letter (18000 CAD + 1500 CAD for international students . c! g* w1 B4 _- J! B% F6 D4 s
=19500CAD. What I get is something around 1000CAD/month!!! after
" D' K* t, M9 Z& W& |6 otuition fee and taxes). To make the argument easy to understand just 1 |2 [/ H6 B! t
imagine that a new student gets the same amount of money that I am
! t0 b1 B8 @) pgetting now and I was getting 3 years ago but he or she (like all of 6 |3 S, w7 K1 Z6 F: Z4 |7 f4 m
us) has to pay twice as much as I was paying for housing when I was " m! B7 y5 v- q1 S
admitted and has to incur at least 70% more in average living costs.8 ]* _% c, _2 x- ~! f% Y

Alberta has a remarkable record in absorbing various money and grants
/ H {; p$ u% _- L; Z- C0 dfrom different governmental and non governmental sources and graduate : }( }& P) r1 c( a) Q
students are the main pillars of research work at the university.! W+ F+ `+ W8 D% U( w% R* g: u
, p! @) k$ F3 J W1 l- c# Y) BMy objective in bringing all abovementioned points in your attention
# V8 a1 R6 T4 y( E% }1 i( Z3 A) dis to question the adequacy of financial aid for graduate and # A# o4 a+ r0 x" b- x# P M* Z+ W+ B
especially international students. Isn抰 it time for the GSA to take
A( Z7 y8 r0 {/ i' A4 {; u2 l # v" Z: L- m U+ M
initiative in raising the issue of increasing financial aid for . G- Y& e8 Q$ w7 U0 \/ n
graduate students so that the can afford this increase in costs?, S4 ?- Q; B9 P2 V6 l
